Personal cheques drawn on UK banks can take 7-10 business days to clear from the time of receipt. Official bank drafts will generally be deposited into your trading account within one business day after receipt.

The minimum deposit amount is 25 of the requested currency. The maximum deposit amount is 10,000 of the requested currency within one calendar month.

Credit Card Verification (required only upon request)
Accounts funded via credit card may be restricted to receiving withdrawals via credit card. Initial deposits made with a credit or debit card may require a recent statement or a copy of the card to confirm ownership. The cardholder's first and last name, as well as the last four digits of the card, must be legible in order for the statement/card to be acceptable.

Making a Withdrawal

FX, CFDs and Spread Betting Accounts
To withdraw funds from your account, log in to MyFXCM with your Trading Station II log-in. Then select "Withdraw Funds" from the main menu navigation.

Equities, Futures & Options Accounts
Submit a completed Withdrawal Form to service@fxcm.com or fax to +44 (0) 20 7903 6117 As an alternative, you may e-mail service@fxcm.com from the e-mail address on record with the following details:

  • Account number
  • Amount to Withdraw
  • Your bank details

For security purposes, withdrawal requests must be made online, in writing, or via e-mail and may not be taken by phone.

In order to protect all parties against fraud, FXCM will, in most circumstances, only pay funds back to the source of the original deposit. If you funded your account by debit or credit card, we will pay funds back to that card – you will normally receive the credit on your account within three business days.

In some exceptional circumstances, we may pay some or all of the funds to your bank account. In these cases, we may request documentation additional to any already provided, before any payment can be made. This may include a copy of a recent bank statement or utility bill. We will contact you if this is the case.

We will confirm the payment method to you by an email sent to the email address in our records, so you will know when the payment is processed and when to expect the funds.

Please remember that we will be unable to make bank transfers when there is a bank holiday local to the bank used to hold deposits in each of our base currencies offered to our customers.

General FAQs

 May I send cash or a cash equivalent such as a money order or Travelers Cheque?
Cash and cash equivalents cannot be accepted as we are unable to verify the origin of these funds. They will be returned upon receipt.
 What are the fees for depositing funds?
Neither HSBC, Bank of America nor FXCM charge fees for incoming deposits. We recommend you contact your bank regarding any fees they or their associated intermediary banks may charge.
 How long will it take for funds to appear in my trading account?
Wire transfers, official cheques, and card deposits are usually credited within 1 business day of receipt. Personal cheques are generally credited within 7-10 business days of receipt.
 How can I send funds in a currency not listed on your website?
FXCM has funding instructions for multiple currencies. If you wire funds in a currency other than the denomination of that bank account, the bank will automatically convert it to the denominated currency at an exchange rate specified by them, which may not necessarily be favorable.

 What is considered a "third party" deposit?
Deposits received from an account held by someone other than the trading account holder constitutes a third party deposit. This also applies to corporate funds received for an individual account and similar scenarios.
 Does FXCM accept third party deposits?
No. FXCM cannot accept any payments via a third party. We can neither guarantee the receipt nor the return of such payments.
 I would like to send funds using a different method other than the options you provided. How can I do this?
The deposit choices FXCM offers have been selected to provide the most convenient and reliable options to fund your account. Any method other than those listed is not recommended and could prevent or cause delays in FXCM crediting the funds to your account.
 Can I send funds through an exchange house?
FXCM cannot accept funds sent through exchange houses. These types of financial institutions are considered high-risk for money laundering. Any funds received via this method will be returned upon receipt.

 Can I pay with a Diners Club card, American Express, or Maestro?
At this time, FXCM only accepts Visa, Visa Electron, and MasterCard. If you are using a Visa Debit card please select Visa in the Card Type drop down field on the online deposit form.
 What currencies are accepted via credit/debit card?
FXCM accepts credit/debit card deposits in USD, EUR and GBP.
 Will I be charged a fee for currency conversion?
All credit or debit card transactions are automatically converted to the base currency of your FXCM trading account. You may incur additional fees charged by your credit/debit card issuer for currency conversion.
 Does FXCM charge a fee for credit/debit card deposits or withdrawals?
No, FXCM does not charge a fee for credit/debit card deposits or withdrawals.
 How much can I fund at one time via credit or debit card?
The minimum deposit amount is 25 of the currency selected on the online deposit form. The maximum deposit amount is 10,000 of the currency selected on the online deposit form.
 Can I fund with my card if I do not see my country of residence listed in the online deposit form?
If your country is not listed, it is because we cannot accept credit/debit card deposits from that country. You may find alternate funding methods here.
 What is the withdrawal procedure when an account is funded by credit or debit card?
Accounts funded via credit or debit card may be subjected to receiving withdrawals via the same credit or debit card. Also be advised that we are only able to remit up to the amount you have deposited via credit or debit card payment. Excess capital can be returned via bank wire transfer or cheque.
 Will my credit card deposit be considered a cash advance?
Card deposits will appear on your card issuer's statement as a "purchase."
 Will I receive a transaction receipt for my credit or debit card deposit?
Within minutes of making a deposit, an e-mail containing your transaction information will be sent to the e-mail address as indicated on the online deposit form.
 My credit or debit card deposit was declined, but my card has been charged. What should I do?
If your card transaction was declined, the transaction should be lifted from your account within a few business days. The amount of time it takes for the funds to be credited back to your credit or debit card depends on your card issuer’s policy.
 Can I use my Visa Prepaid card or a Gift card to fund my FXCM account if my name appears on it and it has a Visa logo?
Please do not send funds using a prepaid or gift card. The origin of funds using gift cards or prepaid cards cannot be verified and therefore are not accepted. Deposits received in this manner will be returned to the originating card.

 How long will it take for my wire deposit to arrive?
Domestic wire transfers generally arrive within 1-2 business days. Cross-Border wire transfers are usually received within 3-5 business days. Please review the chart below to determine which wire transfers are considered domestic:

A domestic wire transfer is any wire transfer where the originating and beneficiary bank account are located in the same jurisdiction.
A Cross-Border wire transfer is any wire transfer where the originating and beneficiary bank account are located in different jurisdictions.

 I have an account with HSBC. Can I use their online transfer or bill payment service to fund my FXCM account?
FXCM does not recommend using an online transfer or bill payment service as a form of deposit due to the likelihood that the funds may arrive at FXCM with insufficient account details. If funds are received in this method, FXCM may request additional documentation to verify ownership of funds (such as a bank statement showing the transaction).
 Can I visit my local HSBC branch and use an ATM or ask the teller to deposit funds directly into your account?
No. ATM or Bank Branch Deposits are typically received by FXCM without any information with regard to the account or individual from whom the payment originated. If such deposits are received, FXCM will require additional documents for proof of ownership or the funds will be returned. Please note that FXCM can neither guarantee the receipt, nor the return of such payments. Branch deposits may be held for up to thirty days or longer before being released as part of our due diligence process.

Cheque FAQs

 What types of cheques are accepted?
  • FXCM accepts official bank drafts and personal cheques denominated in GBP only. All GBP cheques must be drawn on a UK bank.
  • Personal cheques must go through the normal bank clearing system before they can be credited to your FXCM trading account. As a result, it takes 7-10 business days for the funds to be deposited into your trading account. Official bank drafts are usually credited into your trading account within 1 business day.
  • Bank drafts must have the remitter's name pre-printed by the issuing bank on the face of the cheque. The remitter name must be the same as the FXCM account holder. Please also indicate the appropriate trading account number on the back of the cheque to expedite processing.
  • Personal cheques must be drawn from a bank account in the FXCM trading account holder's name.
  • Cheques from joint chequing accounts may be deposited into either chequing account owner's FXCM trading account.
  • Cheques from an individual chequing account may be deposited into an FXCM joint account if that person is one of the FXCM account holders.
 Why does FXCM only accept cheques denominated in GBP?
Cheques must go through the normal bank clearing system before the funds can be credited to your FXCM trading account. Cheques denominated in currencies other than GBP and/or drawn on non-UK banks take longer than 7-10 business days to clear making it an inconvenient funding method.
