Common log in issues

Please be sure to use your correct log in information provided to you when your account was created. Take care to not include any extra spaces when carefully typing the log in information.

Where and how do I log in?

You can log in to trade from the FXCM Stock Trading website. Simply click "Trade Now" in the top right corner of any page, and then log in with your user ID and password.

To manage your account details, you must log in to the secure account management site. You can reach this site by choosing "Manage My Account" in the top-right corner of any page. Then log in with your user ID and password.

How do I retrieve my user ID?

Your user ID can be retrieved from the new account e-mail sent to you when your account was first created. If you do not have this e-mail, please contact us and we will e-mail it to your e-mail address on file so you may resume trading. Contact Us.

How do I reset my password?

Please visit https://secure.fxcmstocktrading.com/logon, our secure client site, and select "Password Request" on the left of the page. You will then be prompted with a few questions to have your password sent to you. Also feel free to contact us and we will reset the password on your behalf.

How do I change my contact information?

Log in to the FXCM Stock Trading Account Management site with your user ID and password. You can update your contact and banking information here.

How do I deposit funds?

FXCM Stock Trading clients may deposit funds via credit or debit card, bank wire transfer or paper cheque (must be drawn on a UK bank). Clients can also choose to transfer funds from an existing FXCM account.

Funding details, including online credit/debit card payment and full bank details can be found on our Deposit and Withdrawals page.

How quickly are those funds available to trade?

The available funding options and deposit time frames are:

  • Credit or Debit Card:
    Approximately one business day, often less to process into your trading account.
  • Bank Wires:
    Approximately one to two business days (domestic UK) and three to five business days (international), often less, to arrive and process into your trading account.
  • Paper Cheque:
    Approximately ten days after receipt to clear and process into your trading account.
  • Transfer from another FXCM account:
    Transfers from FXCM forex trading accounts are typically completed within one business day. Note that if a transfer from an FXCM forex trading account would cause a margin call, there may be a delay in transferring or the transfer may be cancelled.

Please note the time frames above are approximate. In some cases, delays in processing may occur (although this is not common).

Credit or debit card is the fastest and easiest method to deposit funds online. If your deposit exceeds $10,000 or equivalent, the fastest and easiest method to deposit funds is by bank wire.

The minimum deposit for use of our online credit/debit card deposit system is $100. The maximum credit or debit card deposit is $10,000 or the equivalent per calendar month.

How can I check the status of my deposit?

FXCM Stock Trading understands the importance you place on having sufficient funds available to take advantage of market opportunities. We seek to process deposits quickly, as soon as the funds have settled from your financial institution. The expected time frames for deposits to post to your trading account are:

  • Credit or Debit Card:
    Approximately one business day, often less.
  • Bank Wires:
    Approximately one to two business days (domestic) and three to five business days (international), often less.

You can check the status of a deposit online by running a report from https://secure.fxcmstocktrading.com/logon. Select "Account Data" or "Statements" on the top left of the screen.

If a deposit has been declined, or if you do not see the deposit in your account after the typical processing time has passed, please be sure to check your e-mail inbox for news from us prior to contacting us about the status of your deposit.

How do I withdraw funds?

E-mail admin@fxcmstocktrading.com with the following details:

  • Your FXCM Stock Trading Account Number
  • Amount to Withdraw
  • Your Bank Details

Note that there may be restrictions and fees on any withdrawal request. For more details, please visit the Deposit and Withdrawals page

Are there fees for deposits?

There are no administrative fees from FXCM to deposit funds via bank wire or paper cheque.

Credit card deposits are subject to a surcharge of 2% of the deposit amount. This surcharge is assessed from your selected deposit amount. So, if you choose to deposit $1,000 by credit card, you will see $980 appear in your trading account.

How do I transfer funds to/from an FXCM forex account?

E-mail admin@fxcmstocktrading.com from the e-mail address on file with your request. Please include the account number you are transferring from, the account you are transferring to and the amount.

Are there fees for withdrawals?

There are no fees for withdrawals by credit card or debit card. You may only withdraw to a credit or debit card if you deposited with one. Other restrictions apply.

A small withdrawal fee will be charged for all bank wire requests. The wire transfer fees are the following:

USD: $40.00

BACS (GBP Only): No Charge

GBP Payments: £10

SEPA (EUR Only): No Charge

EUR Payments: €35

How long does it take to process a withdrawal?

FXCM makes every effort to process your withdrawal request as soon as possible. Your withdrawal will typically be processed by FXCM within one to two business days.

The time frame to receive funds will depend on the method selected. The time frames are:

Bank Wires:
Domestic UK bank wires take about one to two business days and international bank wires take about three to five business days, often less, to arrive.

Credit or Debit Card:
Time frames will vary depending on the card issuer and may take up to one billing cycle to post back to the credit or debit card used for funding.

Paper Cheque:
Domestic checks take about ten business days and international checks take about fifteen business days, often less, to arrive.

How can I check the status of my withdrawal?

It can take up to one or two business days to process a withdrawal request. Requests are often processed sooner. After the funds have left FXCM Stock Trading, they will arrive at your financial institution within one to five business days.

You can check the status of a withdrawal online by running a report from https://secure.fxcmstocktrading.com/logon, and selecting "Account Data" or "Statements" on the top left of the screen.

If a withdrawal request has been declined (for example if more information is needed), or if you still see the funds in your account after the processing time has passed, please be sure to check your e-mail inbox for news from us prior to contacting us about the status of your request.

Do you pay or charge interest?

Many FXCM Stock Trading accounts qualify to earn interest on cash balances. Whether your account receives interest and the rate depends on your account type. You can get more details and see current rates on the Accounts Overview page.

When are my funds available for withdrawal after selling stock?

Funds are available three days after the trade date. This is often called "T+3" settlement, and is common in most stock exchanges.

What currencies can I fund my account in?

All FXCM Stock trading accounts are held in US dollars. You can remit funds in any currency you like, and FXCM's banks will convert the funds into dollars.

Can I open an account from my country?

FXCM Stock Trading accounts are available to the residents of most countries in the world. You can Open an Account Online.

FXCM Stock Trading accounts are NOT available to residents of the following countries:

What do I need to do to open an account?

There are three steps to opening an FXCM Stock Trading account. Full details can be found on the Open an Account page.

  1. Submit Your Application: You can do this online. Apply Here
  2. Send ID and Proof of Residence: We require a copy of one non-expired government issued identification card, one proof of residence (dated within six months) for the address indicated on the application.
  3. Complete a form W-8BEN: Visit the US Withholding Tax page for more details on this form.
What is the minimum amount needed to open an account?

The minimum to open an FXCM Stock Trading account is $2,000 USD. If you open an account with a larger deposit, you can qualify for Gold or Premium account, which entitles you to lower fees, interest on cash balances, and other benefits. Find out more on the Account Overview page.

What documents do I need to open an account?

We will need three documents to open your FXCM Stock Trading account. Full details and instructions to submit your documents can be found on the Open an Account page.

  1. ID: We require a copy of one non-expired government issued Identification card, such as a driver's license or a passport.
  2. Proof of Residence: We require one proof of residence (dated within six months) for the address indicated on the application.
  3. A completed form W-8BEN: Visit the US Withholding Tax page for more details on this form and how to submit it.
How can I check the status of my application?

You can submit everything required to complete your application today. Applications are typically processed within one to two business days.

If you have not already done so, please send your supporting documents and deposit. We will then send you your log in information and you can start trading.

If anything further is needed to complete your application, we will inform you via e-mail. Feel free to contact us at any time about how to move forward using the form at the bottom of this page.

When can I start trading?

You may start trading once FXCM Stock Trading has received a completed application, processed the required ID and proof of residence and your account has been funded. Your account will not be able to begin trading until all these have been processed and accepted by FXCM, which is typically finished in less than one business day. Funds for trading may take time to appear in your account, depending on the deposit method.

  • Credit or Debit Card:
    Approximately one business day, often less to process into your trading account.
  • Bank Wires:
    Approximately one to two business days (domestic UK) and three to five business days (international), often less, to arrive and process into your trading account.
  • Paper Cheque:

How do I choose a Standard, Gold, or Premium account?

You account level will be automatically set to Standard, Gold, or Premium based on your initial deposit amount when you open an account.

You may later upgrade your account by depositing additional funds, or by executing a large amount of trades per month. Please contact client services for details using the form at the bottom of this page.

What is the difference between account levels?

The benefits of Gold and Premium Accounts are detailed on the Accounts Overview page.

Are there any fees to open an account?

FXCM does not charge any fees to open an account.

Do you offer corporate/business or trust accounts?

Yes, you may open an FXCM Stock Trading Account in the name of a company or trust. Please fill out the special Corporate Application or Trust Application on the Open an Account page.

Are there any monthly charges or inactivity fees?

There are no monthly charges or inactivity fees for FXCM Stock Trading Accounts.

How do I transfer a stock account from another broker?

FXCM Stock Trading can receive transfers of NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX listed stocks via ACAT from another regulated stock broker. Please contact Client Services for details.

How do I complete Form W-8BEN?

FXCM Stock Trading must receive a physical signed copy of Form W-8BEN. Details about completing this form can be found on the US Withholding Tax page.

Which stocks and exchanges are available through FXCM Stock Trading?

Clients can trade any stock or Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or NASDAQ.

What commission do I pay?

Commissions are a flat $9.99 per trade, up to an unlimited number of shares.

Can I trade ETFs?

Yes, you can trade any ETF's listed on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ.

Can I trade options on stocks?

FXCM Stock Trading does not offer trading in options on stocks at this time.

How do I trade forex and commodities?

You can trade currencies, gold, silver, oil and stock indices with Forex Capital Markets Limited (FXCM LTD). You simply need to open an account with FXCM LTD. You can easily transfer funds from your FXCM Stock Trading account to start an FXCM LTD account. Full details can be found on the Forex and Commodities page.

How does margin work at FXCM Stock Trading?

FXCM Stock Trading does not offer margin trading in stocks at this time.

What are your trading hours?

FXCM Stock Trading accounts can trade whenever the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ are open. Exchange hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. New York Time, Monday through Friday, except for holidays.

FXCM Stock Trading Client Services is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week.

What happens if I place an order outside of market hours?

The order will be routed to the market on the open. A market order will trade immediately, a limit order will trade as and when the limit is reached.

How do I receive dividends?

Dividends are processed by our corporate actions team. You will see any dividends on your account statement. Dividends are paid net of tax. A stock must be held past the ex-dividend date for that stock dividend. You can check the status of a dividend by running a report from the Account Management Site. You can run a report by selecting "Statements" on the top left of the screen.

What is T+3 settlement?

Most global investment exchanges settle trades three days after the trade occurs. Physical transfer of the ownership of the security and the funds used occur at this point. Since all trades settle T+3, you can use proceeds from the sale of shares to buy immediately. You only need to wait three days if you wish to withdraw cash that was made available because you closed a trade.

How do I buy or sell a stock?

You can easily buy or sell stocks using the FXCM Stock Trading web platform. Simply log in to the trading platform with your user ID and password. Enter the symbol that you wish to trade, select the action, quantity and order type, then click "Verify Order". If the exchange is open, you will watch the order execute and appear in the Positions tab at the bottom of the screen.

If you place your order outside of exchange hours, the order will be routed to the market on the open. A market order will trade immediately, a limit order will trade as and when the limit is reached.

What order types are supported on your platform?

The FXCM Stock Trading web platform offers market, stop, and limit orders. There is also a "Stop Limit" order which allows you to straddle the market. Clients can use these order type to buy, sell, sell short, or buy to cover.

What is Quick Trading?

The quick Trading feature allows you to enter and cancel orders faster by bypassing order review pages. If you choose to activate Quick Trading by turning off order verifications, you will be able to enter and exit trades very quickly, with only one click. Please note that by enabling Quick Trading, you will be placing orders with no verification, so you may not be able to cancel it once you have clicked the "Place Order" button.

Can I trade by phone?

Yes, you may phone trade by calling FXCM Stock Trading's phone trading desk during exchange hours at +44 207 903 6150. Exchange hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. New York Time (14:30 GMT to 21:00 GMT in winter, 13:30-20:00 GMT in summer).

To ensure the best service, we encourage clients to place their trades through the FXCM Stock Trading platform whenever possible.

Where can I get charts, news and research?

FXCM Stock Trading offers clients comprehensive news, research, stock charts, and data. You can access it any time in our Stock Research section.

How do I set up watch lists?

You can easily set up multiple watch lists inside the web trading platform. Simply click on the Watch List tab near the bottom of the platform. Next, click on "Create or Manage Watch List", and name your new watch list. You can then add or delete symbols from the same screen.

How can I learn more about stock trading?

Is data real-time or delayed?

Trading Centre quotes are live. When you enter your stock code you will see a snap quote. Quotes in the Research section of our website are delayed.
